From the ‘Nothingness’ series, Ocean 5 explores the creative potential of the spirit where a process of mindfulness was used as part of the mark making itself. visit: http://www.peterlsmith.com.au/index.html

This new body of work uses the form of the mountain as a metaphor. The concept is developed through drawing, and subsequently 'mountain building' is undertaken through 3D modelling into vertical laser cut slices of glass. The drawings are illusory, made of shimmering lines of graphite dots that draw out the key profiles and shapes of the mountains. The mountains hover, as if dislocated from the ground, and take on the appearance of clouds - mountains made of air. The Mountain Building exhibition is showing in March 2007 at Brenda May Gallery.
