BEN GARRARD looks at a Melbourne art gallery that has developed a fine stable of established and emerging artists, and a sound philosophy.
Established in late 2006, the Sophie Gannon Gallery is one of seven galleries located on Albert Street, Richmond. It has gone from strength to strength in its nascent years, building a stable that boasts some of Australia’s leading established and emerging artists.
But for director Sophie Gannon, a career in the arts wasn’t always on the cards. Majoring in accounting at the University of Melbourne, she completed work experience at an accounting firm but hated it, deciding instead to shift her focus to the visual arts.
