New art wall for Brisbane's emerging North Quarter

Brisbane-based artist Lincoln Austin has been commissioned to design the Northbridge Art Wall.

The project is due for completion in March 2009 and is located in the heart of Brisbane city’s emerging North Quarter precinct. His work was selected by a panel led by London-based artist Jason Bruges and including Ross Nielson (managing director of Nielson Properties), Brian Donovan (director of Donovan Hill Architects), and Genevieve Searle (Brisbane City Council Public Art Officer).

Lincoln Austin will work closely with Donovan Hill Architects to realize the iconic artwork for the laneway on the ground floor of Northbridge – a commercial office tower located across the river from the new Gallery of Modern Art. Lincoln Austin sculpture, Once Again, is intended to allude to the notion of different paths converging. The artwork will be 14m in length and about 4m high and be integrated into a pedestrian walkway that will provide a link between the Tank Street Bridge and Turbot Street.
