Art Melbourne '09: April 16 - 19

Art Melbourne

April 16-19, 2009

Royal Exhibition Building

Carlton

Now in its 5th year, Art Melbourne is on from April 16 - 19 at the Royal Exhibition Building, Carlton. This event is not to be missed whether you are a seasoned collector, a first-time art buyer, artist seeking inspiration or simply an observer.

Because Art Melbourne brings together 100 galleries selling work from over 800 artists all under one roof, it is the one event on the art calendar that promises something for every budget.

More than just a market though, Art Melbourne offers educational art walks, art activities for children and promises to have many of the artists on-site.

This year the event will feature The Studio, an initiative giving artists the opportunity to run their own 'mini-gallery' space, and patrons the chance to buy art direct from the big names of tomorrow, whilst meeting and discussing their artistic practice directly.

New for this year is the Icons of Australian Art feature which will present the work of some of Australia's most celebrated artists including John Olsen, Fred Williams, Norman Lindsay, David Larwill, Charles Blackman, David Boyd, Garry Shead, Jeffrey Makin, John Perceval, Margaret Olley, Ray Crooke and Tim Storrier.

Off The Wall returns, supported by Art Almanac, giving patrons the chance to  invest in works from unrepresented, emerging artists at entry level prices. See www.artoffthewall.com.au
